About Buying a Used Barco CRT Projector

When I go out 'shopping' for Barco CRT Projectors i always have with me: a flashlight to shine into the lenses to check out fosfors. Normally i like the seller to remove the lenses but occasionally when i buy a lot, it is not always that simple to check out 15 of those units. So a flashlight can be usefull and a trained eye can discover a lot! Also a pair of sunglasses is one of the necessities. Looking into the lenses when the projector is working, is a way to check for wear/burn, sharpness, odities between fosfors and glass,...Also a screwdriver comes in handy.

About Hometheater

As I am no professional hometheater consultent I cannot give that many information about audio, furniture, light and other equipment to make your own hometheater. I'm only here for your barco. What I can share is the things i discovered throughout 8 years of playing around with Barco CRT projectors. Like painting my wall around the 'screen' totally black was one of the major steps ahead in my wallprojected cinema. I must say many thanks to Ledoctt (mister Laurent, the French barco doctor) who provided me with all his knowledge. That man is a walking barco dictionairy. People tend to forget that those barco's are originally made to do heavy duty jobs and now get a second life in a hometheater. That is why they are worth to trust and will serve you many years of pleasure. Do the cost of buying an unit fully retubed and you'll enjoy it. Don't worry about runtime or lifetime of your tubes, they will last at least 15000h. Ofcourse with the coming up of secondhand sites, to find a trustfull unit is not that easy. Thanks to people as Curt Palme (www.curtpalme.com) , Jari, JBS, myself and others who keeps crt business alive, trustfull units will always be available.
